Khaleda Zia, Bangladesh’s first woman prime minister and one of the most influential figures in the nation’s turbulent political history, has passed away at the age of 80 following a long illness, her party has confirmed.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said Khaleda Zia died at around 6:00am (BD Time).
